The Office of Equity and Belonging and Professor Marcy Mears, Department of Social Work, invite ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ Kate's community to join us for a presentation on the current challenges faced by our immigrant neighbors, students, and communities; immigration status definitions and implications; strategies for supporting our immigrant communities; and compassionate, culturally responsive care for Latin/x Minnesotans. We are honored to host two exceptional guest presenters: Juventino Meza, J.D., B.A. and Ana Mariella Rivera, LICSW. Juventino Meza is a lawyer internationally recognized for championing human rights and playing a critical role in getting President Obama to create Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) in 2012 and in passing the Minnesota Dream/Prosperity Act in 2013. Ana Mariella Rivera is a Latina Mental Health Professional and Instructor at ²ÝÝ®ÊÓƵ who specializes in a Healing-Centered, community-based approach to wellbeing. She is passionate about working with Latin/x and BIPOC communities, hosting the Historias y Huellas Podcast, and collaborating on the Telemundo television network.
